In the lower right corner (outside the woodcut) you can see a small notch. This is the so-called “Kento”, and characteristic on this site for the publisher Unsodo. Kento is the registration system traditionally used by Japanese makers of woodcuts to ensure that the different colors (each color is applied through a separate log) are properly aligned. See the picture.

The condition is new! Never been framed.

In the soft purple distance, you see the fishing boots in the morning sunlight.

First year of publishing mid 1950’s. This is a later version from the Heisei period (1989-2019)
