About the artist

Yosaku Sekino is a contemporary Japanese printmaker known for his richly coloured woodblock prints that blend ukiyo-e traditions with modern design. His work often incorporates gold leaf backgrounds, floral subjects, and stylised decorative motifs, creating imagery that feels both classical and contemporary. Sakino’s prints are carved and printed by hand using traditional Japanese techniques, and his editions are typically small and highly sought after.

Sakino has exhibited in numerous printmaking shows in Japan and is appreciated internationally by collectors of modern hanga for his precision carving, refined colour layering, and the luxurious, almost painterly atmosphere of his prints.
