Description

Shiro Kasamatsu was a student of Kaburagi Kiyokata. In the 1950s he published bird and animal prints, landscapes and “famous views” with the publisher Unsodo.
Alltogether more then 100. Shiro Kasamatsu worked in Shin Hanga and Sosaku Hanga style. (More modern)
In the lower right corner (outside the woodcut) you can see a small notch. This is the so-called “Kento”, and characteristic on this site for the publisher Unsodo. Kento is the registration system traditionally used by Japanese makers of woodcuts to ensure that the different colors (each color is applied through a separate log) are properly aligned. See the picture.

The condition is new! Never been framed.

There are a lot of series of “Beauties” in the woodblock print art. Beautiful woman, nicely dressed in kimono. Here at the important Tea ceremony.

First year of publishing 1954. This is a later version from theHeisei period (1989 – 2019)

This print comes from the original plates made for publisher Unsodo.
