Description

The true value of Hokusai Art, 36 views of Togashi
Katsushika Hokusai was active in many fields, including actor paintings and reading illustrations.
He also studied a wide range of Chinese and Western techniques, and made full use of shadow and perspective methods.
Scenic paintings will eventually include the “Thirty-six Views of Togashi”, which includes the masterpiece “Kaifu Sunny” (Akafuji).
It was a great success. Hokusai’s work has had a major impact on Western painters
Is still one of the most famous Japanese painters in the world.
In the lower left corner (outside the woodcut) you can see a small notch. This is the so-called “Kento”, and characteristic on this site for the publisher Unsodo. Kento is the registration system traditionally used by Japanese makers of woodcuts to ensure that the different colors (each color is applied through a separate log) are properly aligned.
