Description

Shiro Kasamatsu was a student of Kaburagi Kiyokata. In the 1950s he published bird and animal prints, landscapes and “famous views” with the publisher Unsodo.
Alltogether more then 100. Shiro Kasamatsu worked in Shin Hanga and Sosaku Hanga style. (More modern)
In the lower left corner (outside the woodcut) you can see a small notch. This is the so-called “Kento”, and characteristic on this site for the publisher Unsodo. Kento is the registration system traditionally used by Japanese makers of woodcuts to ensure that the different colors (each color is applied through a separate log) are properly aligned. See the picture.

The condition is new! Never been framed.

First year of publishing 1953. This is a later version from the Reiwa period (2020 -) reprinted just this summer ! (2020) rare print. Just the line block remained. The color blocks where newly carved for this new print.

Shiro Kasamatsu is generally regarded as one of the top Shin Hanga woodcut artists in Japan.

Will be carefully packed between hardboard plates and send with track and trace, worldwide.
